The Fourth Grade will host a Biographer’s Ball once again on Thursday, June 9 at 10:00 am.  Your child has checked out a biography from the Media Center.  I will provide a pre-writing form that will help your child prepare a short paragraph/monologue about his or her chosen figure.  You can help your child prepare a simple costume or outfit that appropriately represents his or her person.

Fourth Grade Picnic

Following  the Biographer’s Ball, all 4th graders will be treated to a pizza lunch.  Parents, please we need donations of juice boxes and cookies for our class.  Please let me know if you would like to send some in!  Volunteers are needed to help serve pizza.  Thanks!

    EOG Retests and Projects

    May 24th, 2011 by

    Dear Parents,

Everyone in our class worked very hard on the EOGs last week!  I am so proud of the students’ diligence and smart use of strategies.  As a whole, the class showed impressive growth and achievement.  I will look forward to sharing more information with you about your child’s individual achievement and growth at our upcoming conferences.

I have a bittersweet announcement:  After five years teaching fourth grade at Powell, I will be leaving at the end of this school year.  Next year, I will be an Instructional Resource/Intervention Teacher at Walnut Creek Elementary School, a brand-new school that is opening in the fall.  Because there is so much to do to start a new school, I have already begun many of my new duties and will begin at Walnut Creek full-time on June 13.  It’s very hard to leave such wonderful students and staff at Powell, but I’m also very excited for this new opportunity.   I will certainly miss everyone and hope to keep in touch!
